ACES Gallery's October 18 Fall Estates Auction features more than 450 lots from prominent local estates and collections

STAMFORD, CT, UNITED STATES, September 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- More than 450 lots of distinguished provenance, carefully curated from nearly 50 prominent local estates, will come up for bid in ACES Gallery’s Fall Estates Auction on Sunday, October 18th. Categories will include contemporary and fine art; Western art; decorative arts; Asian art; silver; watches and timepieces; jewelry; collectibles; and books.

The auction will begin promptly at 12 noon Eastern Time. Bidding will be available online, with telephone and absentee bidding also available. There will be no live in-person bidding, however. Internet bidding will be facilitated by LiveAuctioneers.com, Invaluable.com and Drouot.com.

Items of interest will include fine art, furniture and silver from a "time-capsule" mid-century waterfront home in Larchmont, N.Y.; sterling and collectibles from the estate of Phyllis Blackman Weisman of Greenwich, Conn.; finds from a Brooklyn Heights, NYC brownstone; bronzes and Western Art from a Greenwich, Conn. estate; and Americana and Asian art from a Bedford, N.Y. farm home.

Speaking of the Bedford home, the Asian category will be highlighted by an important blue and white ovoid jar from the 18th century Joseon Dynasty in Korea, discovered in the home with a potted plant inside. The jar, 13 ½ inches tall and 13 ½ inches in diameter, features divine tortoises and cranes arranged in alternating circular medallions. The estimate is $5,000-$10,000. Also, a 19th/20th century Korean School ‘Chaekgeori’ (books and things) four-panel screen, overall 32 ¼ inches by 64 ½ inches, made from ink and color on paper mounted to panels, carries an estimate of $800-$1,200.

The contemporary and fine art category will showcase selected pieces from the complete oeuvre of Letizia Pitigliani (1935-2012), a female artist who flourished in New York City in the 1970s and ‘80s. Her signed acrylic on canvas titled Grand Central Terminal (1995), 34 inches by 34 inches (sight, minus the frame), should fetch $500-$1,000. A tapestry produced in a collaboration between the artist Alexander Calder (1898-1976) and the Guatemalan company Bon Art, titled Floating Circles, 102 inches by 72 inches, dated and numbered (“58/100 CA 74”), has an estimate of $8,000-$12,000.

A cast bronze multiple statue by the American artist Louise Nevelson (1899-1988), titled Brandeis Multiple, 1968, diminutive at just 3 ¾ inches tall (bronze only, minus the clear acrylic block base), with incised ‘Nevelson’ signature and dated ‘68’ on the reverse, from an edition of 150, is expected to realize $2,000-$4,000. Also, a mixed media collage with washi paper on canvas by the Northwest School artist Paul Horiuchi (Japanese/American, 1906-1999), titled Remnants of Order, nicely housed in a 66-½ inch by 79-inch frame, signed and dated ‘66’ lower left, should command $5,000-$10,000.

A large mixed media and collage on canvas by Kazuya Sakai (Japanese/Argentine, 1927-2001), titled New York II (1964), an abstract composition with gestural paint applications alongside collage elements including newspaper clippings and typographic fragments, 59 inches by 49 inches, has an estimate of $5,000-$10,000. Also, a bronze statue by Yevgeny (Eugene) Alexandrovich Lanceray (Russian, 1848-1886), titled Zaporozhian Cossack After Battle, signed in Cyrillic on the base and bearing a Chopin Foundry, St. Petersburg mark, overall 18 inches tall, should hit $5,000-$10,000.

Western art will highlight an oil on panel painting by James Bama (1926-2022), titled The Rookie Bronc Rider – Stampede Grounds, Cody Wyoming, signed ‘Bama’ and dated ‘74’ lower right corner, the frame 27 ¼ inches by 33 ¼ inches. It’s expected to finish at $10,000-$15,000. Also, a bronze figural group by G. Harvey (Texas, 1933-2017), titled Taking Stock, depicting a cowboy on his horse, looking off into the distance, titled and signed ‘G. Harvey’ and dated ‘1986’ and numbered (‘30/100’), 11 ½ inches tall (bronze, minus the base) has a pre-sale estimate of $3,000-$5,000.

Decorative arts will be plentiful and will include a full-bodied 19th century gilt painted copper and zinc running horse weathervane from the working Armonk, New York farm of D. Charles V. Paterno, attributed to J. W. Fiske Iron Works (New York City), with a molded copper body and a cast metal head, 33 inches long by 18 inches tall, with an estimate of $3,000-$5,000; and a circa-1910 Tiffany Studios linenfold favrile glass lamp shade featuring 12 panels of amber-colored glass and patinated bronze, with impressed mark 'Tiffany Studios New York 1936' to the interior bronze rim, 55 inches tall at the base, expected to bring $2,000-$4,000.

Silver and jewelry items are certain to attract keen bidder interest. A few highlight lots are as follows:

• A mid-century Buccellati sterling silver Italian water pitcher designed with a curved, dark wooden handle, 10 ¼ inches in height and weighing 37.7 ozt. Estimate: $1,500-$2,500
• A 3-piece antique emerald, ruby and diamond demi-parure (matching set), designed as a line of 15 matching links, each with a round faceted emerald bezel set in gold, to include matching earrings and an 18-inch-long necklace weighing a total 39.6 grams. Estimate: $3,000-$5,000
• A pair of National Silver Company sterling silver Italian wine coolers, with neoclassical relief decorations including floral swags suspended from lion-mask rings. Each 7 ¼ inch tall vessel is flanked by curved handles. 89.5 ozt total weight. Estimate: $2,000-$4,000
